photography
I've chosen Felix Cooper's photography because it is clear but not boring, an aesthetic I'd like to accomplish on commercial shoots. I like the lighting Felix Cooper uses because you can clearly understand what’s going on in the picture but it's not oversaturated or very dramatic. You really have to pause and observe every inch of the photo to find all the hidden gems. I envision myself styling women, and Felix Cooper shoots a woman beautifully. I've never seen a more perfect Hailey Bieber.
makeup
I've chosen Val Garland's makeup artistry because she uses color intentionally and beautifully on a woman. She is very skilled at creating natural looks which are necessary in the world of boho. However, because I would like to style for commercial shoots, there must be an off-center element to keep the consumer engaged with the image. Makeup can be this element for my shoot.
Bohemian style is free-spirited and, at times, bright, not neutral. If styling with bright clothes, I'd like the makeup artist on set to pull the same or complimentary colors from the clothing to the makeup look. I'd also like the makeup artist to make color look natural, which Val Garland does very well on model Jordan Dunn for British Vogue.
hair
I chose Dayaruci for hair because he has soft waves and up-styled curls mastered in his portfolio. This will work well with the bohemian style I want to accomplish in my shoot. To add dimension to the looks, I’d like my hairstylist to be able to execute more formal hairstyles as well as up-dos. Dayaruci also has this skillset as displayed in the Ray Ban campaign.
model
Chiara Scelsi has soft, feminine, relaxed features needed for a bohemian aesthetic. She is also of mixed Brazilian and Italian descent which I love because I am passionate about diversity in ads. However, she does not deviate from the free spirit je ne sais quoi needed for boho chic styling. I love her darker features, brown curly hair, and brown eyes because they are not what you expect to see in a bohemian shoot.
